Nilo Heritage Reflections - from July 2006

A unique participative intergenerational multimedia project run in partnership with Iteso Welfare Association.

Over the coming months we will work with IWA to create an interactive DVD featuring oral histories of Iteso /Nilo Hamite people living in the UK. We are currently training young people of Nilo heritage in digital recording technology. The next phase will see the young people interviewing people from Iteso roots throughout the UK.

The people at Iteso Welfare Association tracked us down after they viewed our Reel Lives DVD about Sierra Leone. During summer and autumn 2005 we worked together to plan the project which received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund early in 2006.

The final DVD, due for completion in 2007 will be a celebration of social and cultural heritage featuring spoken word, art, dance and music.
